We started off walking until we made it to the park behind our house. Maddie had some extra energy in her and Aidan seemed to be in a good mood, so we started a slow jog. Pretty soon, I discovered that Maddie had a little bit of sled dog in her as she pulled us along with her ears happily flapping in the wind. I felt like I was a kid again running through the woods trying to avoid nailing a tree and miracle of miracles, I could hear Aidan laughing!
We made it through the short half mile loop through the woods and I decided to test our limits and head to the playground, which is about a mile and a half from where we were. We kept our pace and Aidan kept letting out these adorable giggles and coos. It wasn't long before we made it past the point where Aidan had melted down the last time. I looked down and he was still happy, so we kept on going.
We made it all the way to the playground and the water fountain. There were tons of people out for the farmer's market they have there every Saturday in the fall, all the bicyclists training for the MS 150, and the Christian Runners running group who were just getting started on their Saturday run. And there I was, sweating, with my crew. Maddie behaved herself very well, especially when confronted by two other big dogs. She was tired at this point and just sat back on her honches. Aidan was asleep.
We turned around and headed back to the house. Aidan slept the whole way home. Maddie started to fall back, so we started walking when we were about a quarter of a mile from home. We made it all the way home with no melt downs!!!! Admittedly, in the picture below, Aidan looks as though he just got off a roller coaster.
Aidan has also started loving on anything that is soft. He loves to bury his head in soft blankets and rub. Aunt Shalon got him a lovie designed specifically for this purpose.
Other than that, Aidan has had a truly wonderful week. On Wednesday, he actually started to grab and pull on the animals hanging from his car seat. He's more alert and interactive.
Tonight he's going to hang out with his Grandma and Grandpa while Mom and Dad go to a movie and to dinner. Its our first date night since he's been born. We're really looking forward to it.

That's awesome! We should have asked you to come down here today. Our church is the host to our hometown "Springville Sprint" 5K and there is a 1 mile fun run before that. Andy won for his age group, as always. It's really small though, just a hundred, maybe hundred & 15 runners and tons of kids. The elementary schools in the areas encourage kids to come and they get 1 point per kid. The school that has the most gets a trophy.
There are always Moms & Dads running with strollers. Matter of fact a Mom came in near the front of the pack today with a double stroller!! What a woman!!
We use to have a Powder Springs day parade & festival too, but that's all been moved to October. There's an awards ceremony and pancake breakfast for free after it. We'll have to remember next year and let you know. You're in Roswell, right? It's not too far!
Did you run in the US 10K Classic? Andy did. You runners are my hero! Wish I could run, yikes~
