First Vacation

Aidan's first diaper change on an airplane (Dad did the honors)

Aidan went on his first and second plane rides. We flew into San Francisco on a direct flight from Atlanta where we met up with Brian, Andi and Calvin. Aidan did really well on the flight. We timed it pretty well with his normal bottle/nap time and he was out just after the plane took off. We did not plan the landing as well and there was some moderate crying along with Aidan holding both his hands to his ears.
From SFO we drove to Napa, where we spent the next couple of days. The husbands were FANTASTIC b/c they watched the kids while the wives learned about new brands of wine (ie wine tastings). I was super fortunate to get to take 2 long runs through the wine country. Heaven on earth for sure.
After that, we headed to Santa Cruz, where we spent the rest of our vacation at our super fun beach house. We hooked up with Kevin along the way. I told him several times he was a brave guy to vacation with two small children. The boys love their "uncle" Spud. We are very appreciate of Kevin arranging an after hours tour of the Ano Nuevo state park. We got an up close and personal tour of the beach where the elephant seals come to have their babies and make new ones. We got some great pictures.

Our house was fantastic. Andi did such a great job picking out all our accomodations and making sure we had adequate supplies.

We had sushi for dinner two different nights at a place called "I love Sushi". While the sushi was good, I think we just went there the second time b/c the owner kept beating the boys in a Saki Bomb drinking contest. They would have barely started and Mr. Henry would be done.

The second time we went, we were joined by Pat and Michelle. It was so good to see them and very sweet of them to drive so far!

Andi and I had a spa outing and the boys launched rockets from the beach. On the next to last day, we went to Monterey and Carmel.

Aidan did great the whole time, but came down with an awful throat virus when we got home. His fever got up to 105.6. He's currently wrapping himself around the leg of the coffee table, that he rolled halfway across the room to get to, so I'd say he's on the mend.

He's saying Dada and Mama, but not to any particular person. He's started to kind of wave hello and loves any kind of clapping song. He has a great sense of humor and loves to laugh.
We hope you are all well.

Much love,

The Newtons
